A Homemaker's Christmas Wishlist

If you are anything like me, you start out with the best intentions of getting your Christmas shopping done early. Every year I say it, and every year I slightly miss the mark. Eh, now is not the time to get stressed. By now, you are rummaging through your Christmas list and still have those hard-to-get-for people left. No worries. I have compiled a list of my favorite gift ideas. Hope this helps!

1. Instant Pot Everyone needs one. Every single human being. They are amazing! Completely versatile and for under a hundred bucks. Yes please. I use mine multiple times a week. I highly recommend purchasing the extra lid, so you can easily pop the leftovers in the fridge.

2. Essential Oils (Sponsor#: 3519018) Doesn't everyone use these now?! Non-toxic scents for the win. Here is a list of my top 5 favorite oils:

  1. Thieves: Has stood the test of time. Literally! Must have to combat the sick season.
  2. Christmas Spirit: The perfect blend of cinnamon, orange, and black spruce.
  3. Peppermint: Bad breath or tummy ache, a must have!
  4. Lavender: A drop on your pillow to support relaxation.
  5. Wintergreen & Tangerine: Diffused together smells like a candy store!

3. Ninja Blender Okay, this is for those people you REALLY like. It is hands down our most used kitchen item. Every day, multiple times a day. Smoothies, soups, cookie batter, mashed potatoes, bread dough. Ninja fan for life!

4. Safety Razor Why does it seem so hard to select a gift for the men in your life? I have no idea, but I do know safety razors are an awesome, zero-waste, close shave that many men & women are loving these days.

5. Bamboo Fountain Pen This is obviously a gift for the more artsy folk in your circle, but such a timeless piece is certain to be treasured.

6. Salt lamp The soft glow of these lamps are absolutely mesmerizing.

Bam, there you have it. My Christmas wish list this year! With online shopping, you still have time to get the perfect gifts for those you love.

Happy Christmas Shopping!

Budget Life: Homeschooling

Hi there. I am starting a mini series called Budget Life that will include tips on how we live on a single income. Today's topic is homeschooling. Homeschooling can be expensive with all the fancy curriculums and extracurricular activities available today. It feels overwhelming to decide what's worth the money and what's not. Homeschooling is also a very personal endeavor and no two homeschools are exactly the same. With that said, I am going to share with you some of the ways I navigate homeschooling on a strict budget. Here is a list of FREE homeschooling resources that I personally use. Find free community events and schedule them on your calendar. Surf Facebook for local events or the famous Google search. There are free STEM fests, Healthy kid events, Movies in the park, Fishing with free-to-use poles & bait, Concerts, Educational library classes, and all the free holiday events. This is a huge money saver and you can still have great fun and do lots of li...

10 Ways to Prompt Learning

We knew from the start we wanted to homeschool our kids. Now with a toddler, we've ventured into schooling on a daily basis. I have a lot to learn moving forward with educating our children, but here are a list of 10 things we do to prompt learning... 1. Library. They have free classes that we attend weekly, that include activities such as story time, crafts, music and dance, and socializing with peers. The library is also great for reading, teaching your littluns to check out books, library etiquette practice, and exploring educational online games. 2. Aquarium/Zoo. My husband and I quite enjoy going to view the animals as well,  so it's a fun family outing. And educational! 3. Educational Movies. Our kids rather love and learn from Leapfrogs, VeggieTales, and Wild Kratts. You can find some educational movies at the library! 4. Discovery Channel. Another family friendly, educational, Friday night plan! 5. Workbook. I found an $8 kindergarten workbook at a local Wal...

The Ways of Old

Little House on the Prairie shaped my life as a young girl. With dreams of romping through the meadow, stoking a fire, and cooking in a black kettle; a simplified life was calling me. Ironically, I grew up in the city and ate frozen burritos for dinner. Where's my people at? In my daydreams, I fancy sitting in a rocking chair, sipping lemongrass tea, as I knit my children a sweater. Truth is I don't own a rocking chair and I haven't the slightest clue how to knit...yet. Here's the thing, you can learn anything you set your mind to, at least that's what I'm teaching my children. Instead of just saying it though, showing it seems to make a lasting impression. So, this apartment living, city dwelling momma is on a mission to teach her children the ways of old. That looks like gardening on an apartment balcony, in pots, painstakingly every year. Why? Because there is a lesson of beauty in growing your own food. Understanding the fruits of your labor....
